Senator Ron Johnson can’t be for Wisconsin,

if he’s against clean water.

Senator Ron Johnson has consistently opposed federal investments into clean water in Wisconsin and supported efforts to roll back clean water regulations that would protect Wisconsin drinking water.

How do we know? Let’s look at the facts:

  • He voted against the bipartisan 2022 Omnibus Spending Bill, supported by both parties, passed by the House and Senate and signed into law by President Biden on March 15, 2022. The bill included $348 million in funding for the Great Lakes and $2.77 billion in state revolving loan funds to support drinking water and sewer investments in Wisconsin and nationally.[1]

  • Johnson voted against the 2021 infrastructure bill that included $841 million in water infrastructure spending for Wisconsin alone.[2]

  • Johnson also has supported rollbacks on clean water protections. In 2021, he voted to enshrine the Dirty Water Rule (no longer in effect) in the 2021 Budget Resolution[3]  which would have removed clean water protections from 120,000 miles of intermittently flowing streams in Wisconsin, and 4 million acres of wetlands. If that bill had passed, rural communities would have seen devastating increases in polluted runoff.[4]
